Parents are the first teachers
In a new campaign spot, Julie says Texas parents — not a district office — have the first and last word on what their children are taught.

Julie released a campaign video this week on the fight that has defined her time on the Texas State Board of Education: keeping parents in charge of their children's education.
In the spot she says what her record has already shown. Texas parents — not a district office, not a curriculum consultant — have the first and last word on what their children learn. That authority belongs in the family.
Parents are the first teachers. Schools exist to serve them, not to replace them. Julie is asking District 7 to send her back to the State Board to keep that line clear.
Parents are the first teachers.
